Four Way Books will soon celebrate its 30th anniversary! Three decades of growth, good fortune, and deepening relationships—across the field, with our writers, and with you, our readers and supporters. We know that you share the belief that literary publishing is vital to our culture, and that the voices published by Four Way Books—always challenging, diverse, and profoundly human—contribute meaningfully to literary discourse in this country. As we enter our fourth decade, we remain a dedicated and fiercely independent press, committed to bringing to you the most compelling and powerful writers in contemporary literature. I encourage you to support this important organization as we work to move, entertain, enlighten, and even thrill you with wide-ranging, exceptional authors who take risks, who bring everything they have to the page. We are a small, fully paid staff operating on a modest budget in New York City. We have worked through 9/11, hurricanes, and the pandemic without skipping a beat. Indeed, since 2020, we have hired more personnel, introduced a paid intern program, increased our publication list, and built upon all of our departments (production, marketing, editorial). In order to continue to do what we do well and improve as we move forward, support from the writing and reading community is essential. That’s why I am reaching out to you for help, whether you are a new or an old friend of Four Way Books.
